Typing Websites
• Free Typing Game.net Has both lessons and games. Allows students to print certificates upon successful completion of lessons. The games tend to be very engaging for students of all ages. The lessons are thorough, and present the basic typing skills in a clear way
• Dance Mat Typing - Good for lower grades, probably 1st and 2nd.
• Sense Lang.org - Has good letter practice, although the presentation of letters is very random, and not combinations you would find in real life. Allows students to change the background color, and type with or without the speed counter. This program allows you to paste your own text into the practice window, and then the program feeds you back that text for typing practice, which is a nice feature.
• Speed Typing Online Game - Pretty fun speed typing game, with the letters blowing up when you hit them. Very cool sound effects. There is no feedback at all, and the letter combinations are totally random, a nice change of pace from typing lessons.
• Typing Tutors.com - List of fee-based typing tutors for both home and school. We have used Slam Dunk Typing in the past, but have moved to using downloadable or web-based programs
