Since 1931, the Friends School Haverford (FSH) Friends Community Organization (FCO) has played an important role in the life of the school. The FCO is an active and vital organization comprised of all FSH parents charged with the mission of planning activities that enhance the FSH experience and promote community. The FCO also organizes parents to provide a helping hand to the teachers, and fosters communication between parents, teachers and school administration. Finally, the FCO helps raise funds to support the Community Scholarship Program as well as other school projects.
The FCO meets monthly and all parents are encouraged to attend and get involved in the myriad of community activities that go on during the year. The FCO raises money through events such as the Footsteps for Friends Race, the Book Fair and the Spring Auction. In addition, “friendraising” events such as Pumpkin Day, the All School Family Fun Day, and the Spring Fair bring a real sense of joy and community to FSH families, friends and neighbors.
Friends School Haverford's Caring Community
Lending a Hand
Our full and busy lives are marked by many events: joyful, sad, stressful there are times when everyone can use a helping hand. Meals, carpools, friendly faces, and kind words are some of the ways that FSH community members help each other on a personal level.
As a school, we would like to offer support to all community members in times of need, of course, within your comfort level and need for privacy. If you or someone you know at FSH find yourselves in need of help or resources during a stressful time, please know that your school community is here. Help can be provided in the form of information and ideas on how to offer support on a personal or classroom level, or if preferred, a message can be sent out to the entire community and we can help set up a support system for you (based on your needs and preferences) through a website such as lotashhelpinghands.com.
