How to Contribute to
Friends School Haverford
Since 1885, Friends School Haverford has fulfilled its mission to foster a lifelong love of learning grounded in an appreciation of that of God in everyone. This is achieved through the dedication of professional faculty, eager students and the generous support of parents and the entire community, including Meeting members, alumni and their parents, grandparents and all friends. Each gift is significant and vital to the School's capacity to fulfill its mission.
Annual Fund, 2007-2008
Gifts to the Annual Fund are an essential part of Friends School Haverford's overall operating budget each year. We count on a gift from each member of the School community to achieve our goal. In the year 2007-2008, the goal is $175,000 to support programs that complement curriculum, faculty salaries and professional development, and other ancillary resources not covered by tuition.
Books, class trips, special music and arts programs, and a wide range of extracurricular activities are a few examples of what your Annual Fund gifts support. Gifts range from $5 to $10,000. All gifts are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.
We need your help now to achieve our goal this year!
Endowment
A gift to the Endowment supports financial aid, faculty salaries and professional development, maintenance of the facilities and grounds and capital improvements including technology.
Planned Giving
Guided by the philosophy of the Religious Society of Friends, FSH and the Friends Fiduciary Corporation invite you to consider supporting the School while saving taxes, increasing retirement income, and providing for loved ones. We invite you to consider a few options:
Securities: A gift of appreciated securities offers two tax benefits: a charitable deduction for the fair market value of the securities, and avoidance of capital gains tax on appreciation (the difference between cost and current fair market value).
Bequests: Including FSH in your will allows you to enjoy your assets during your lifetime, reduce your estate taxes, and make a lasting commitment to the School.
Charitable Gift Annuities: A charitable gift annuity provides an immediate federal income tax deduction and a fixed lifetime income payment, some of which may be free from federal income tax. Although most donors choose to receive the annuity payment themselves, arrangements may be made to provide income for a loved one. You may also choose to create a deferred gift annuity and receive a higher rate of annuity payment.
Charitable Remainder Trusts: Charitable Remainder Trusts can provide a fixed or variable annual income for any number of income beneficiaries (depending upon the type of trust established). Upon the death of the last income beneficiary, the balance of the trust’s assets would be given to Friends School Haverford.
