For 140 years, Friends School Haverford has been more than just a place where children learn and grow. It has been a gathering place for generations of students, families, teachers, and alumni connected by shared experiences, values, and relationships that often last long beyond graduation.
Now less than two weeks away, the Friends School Haverford 140th Anniversary Spring Fair & Alumni Celebration will bring that extended community together once again.
Current and new families will gather alongside alumni who once walked the same hallways decades ago. Former teachers will reconnect with past students. Young children will run across the same campus where parents and grandparents may have once played themselves. New families curious about Friends School Haverford will have the opportunity to experience firsthand the warmth, joy, and sense of belonging that have long defined the school community.
At Friends School Haverford, relationships and community have always been central to school life. Rooted in Quaker values, the school was founded on the belief that every child deserves to feel known, respected, and valued. That philosophy continues to shape everyday experiences on campus today, from Meeting for Worship to collaborative classroom projects, outdoor exploration, and the close relationships formed between children, teachers, and families.
That spirit of connection is exactly what makes this year’s Spring Fair feel especially meaningful. As Friends School Haverford celebrates 140 years, the event offers a rare opportunity for generations of the community to gather together once again. Alumni will walk familiar hallways, former teachers will reconnect with past students, current families will celebrate alongside those who helped shape the school years ago, and new families will experience firsthand the welcoming spirit that continues to define FSH.
In today’s fast-moving world, opportunities to gather across generations feel increasingly meaningful. Events like the Spring Fair create space for connection in a way that feels joyful, natural, and deeply human. That sense of continuity is part of what makes a 140-year legacy so special.
Friends School Haverford has continued to evolve over the decades while remaining grounded in the same core values that shaped its founding: curiosity, integrity, kindness, peace, simplicity, and community. The school’s history is not simply something displayed in archives or remembered during anniversaries. It continues through the people who return year after year and through each new generation of children and families who become part of the school community.
Families attending the Spring Fair can enjoy food trucks from local favorites Jules Thin Crust Pizza and Lovebird Chicken along with games, face painting, balloon artists, a photo booth, campus tours, and plenty of activities for children. Alumni are warmly invited back for a special Alumni Meet-Up and the chance to revisit campus and reconnect with former classmates and teachers.
Most importantly, the day is an invitation to come together.
Whether you are a current family, alumni family, past or present faculty member, prospective family, or longtime friend of the school, we hope you will join us as we celebrate 140 years of Friends School Haverford and the extraordinary community that continues to shape it.
