A joyful introduction to school for young children ages 9 months to 3 years and their caregivers.
Through hands-on art, playful exploration, music, movement, and shared experiences, your child will build confidence, connection, and creativity in a nurturing community guided by Quaker values.
Ages 9–18 Months
A gentle introduction to music for babies and young toddlers.
Through lap songs, fingerplays, movement, and sensory play, children explore sound and rhythm alongside a parent or caregiver. Activities are simple enough for a nine-month-old while giving older babies plenty to discover.
You’ll also learn songs, games, and little routines you can continue together at home.
Ages 18–36 Months
For toddlers who are ready to move, sing, explore, and participate a little more independently.
Classes bring together singing, dancing, instruments, movement, and storytelling, giving children lots of different ways to join in. Some may sing every word. Others may spend half the class dancing. And some may simply watch until they are ready.
There is no “right” way to participate.

Our classes offer a warm place to get out of the house, spend time together, and add a little music and movement to your week.
Come ready to sing and dance, sit together and listen, or simply follow your child’s lead.
A maximum of 12 children creates a comfortable setting where Teacher Rachel can get to know the children and families who return each week.

“Friends School Haverford has made my child feel like part of a community since we first set foot on the campus. The early childhood programs encouraged his growth and exploration, while also providing thoughtful support as he navigated the experience of attending school for the first time. The growth that I’ve seen since those first days at FSH has been immeasurable. I am so thankful that my child has had the opportunity to learn and grow at this special school.” – Wendy Lias

“It is a school that values each child and enriches them academically, spiritually, emotionally and physically. It is a place that teaches how to be a good friend!” – Kate Silber DeRiel

“We have seen such a significant blossoming effect with our son since being a part of Forest Edge class at Friends School Haverford. We know it is deeply influenced by the intentional ways the teachers validate feelings, model kindness and respect, encourage resiliency and flexibility, and celebrate individuality.
Every day, our son looks forward to going to school and spending the day with his teachers and all his friends. As a parent, it is the most wonderful thing to witness — seeing how happy he is to go to school and seeing his amazing growth as a result of these phenomenal teachers.
Lastly, both teachers have been extremely kind to our family. The teachers have always attended to our experience (as parents) and made time to talk to us — both to validate and allay our worries. Friends School Haverford is a phenomenal educational experience and community!” – Patricia Flaherty Fischette
