Alumni Weekend

During a panel discussion about their experiences in the Sciences, Wayne Giles ‘73 (a dean at the University of Illinois) and Linda Powell Solomon ‘71 (a department chair at the Community College of Philadelphia) spoke to the crucial role that their time at Friends School Haverford played in their education and professional lives. They highlighted listening to others, thinking critically, and understanding themselves as individuals and learners as foundational skills they learned at FSH that they believe all students need in the 21st century.

Their memories of Friends School Haverford resonate beautifully with the work your children are doing here each day. It’s hard to believe that the daily work of school can have such a profound impact. It’s important to be reminded that seemingly small moments and simple skills can make all the difference in the world.

I wish you all a great week and will look forward to seeing you at one of our Curriculum Night events coming up in the next couple of weeks!
