NOW Enrolling! NEW Nursery Program for 2-Year-Olds

More and more families are recognizing the benefits of early socialization and structured play, especially following changes resulting from the pandemic. This program allows us to extend the core values of Friends School Haverford—kindness, community, and curiosity—to even younger learners.

Friends School Haverford is thrilled to announce the launch of a brand-new nursery program for 2-year-olds, set to open in Fall 2025. This program is designed in response to growing demand from families who want a high-quality, nurturing environment for their youngest children. With a strong focus on social-emotional development, outdoor play, and hands-on learning, this program will provide a warm and engaging start to nursery life in a friendly Quaker setting.

Friends School Haverford has long been known for its small class sizes and individualized attention, and this new Nursery option will continue that tradition. Experienced teachers will create a gentle, engaging environment where 2-year-olds can thrive through hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and plenty of time to play and discover alongside their peers. With a focus on fostering independence and confidence, the program is designed to provide a seamless transition into the school’s well-established preschool and kindergarten offerings.

Program Details

Ages: Open to children who turn 2 by September 1 of the year they are enrolling.

Schedules (choose one):

- Full day: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM
- Five half days & two afternoons: 8:00 AM-11:45 AM(M-F) & 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM(T&TH)
- Three full days: 8:00 AM – 2:45 PM
- Half day: 8:00 AM – 11:45 AM

Before and After care:

- Morning care available: 7:15 AM – 8:00 AM (included in tuition)
- After care available: 2:45 PM – 6:00 PM (for an additional fee)
- This nursery program will follow the school year. It is optional to enroll your child in the summer program for 2 years olds!

Daily Activities include:

Play-based learning
Outdoor exploration
Siesta time
Feeding and diapering
Social-emotional skill-building

Co-curriculars include:

Spanish
Art class
Music
Physical Education

Licensure

This new program is fully licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, ensuring that children receive high-quality care, including assistance with toileting, if needed. Families do not need to worry about potty training before enrollment.

The program is a natural next step for families participating in Toddlers & Friends (for children 20 to 36 months old), offering an easy transition into a structured classroom experience. While the nursery program follows the school-year calendar, families will also have the option to enroll in a summer program to maintain continuity.
